Meet Nurse Practitioners & CRNAs of color with doctorate degrees (PhD, EdD, DNP or DNAP). Learn about doctorate programs, differentiation of PhD dissertation and DNP capstone project, rigors of each program, post-doctorate programs, grant writing opportunities, and career trajectories in academia.

 

And, learn how to build a body of work towards being a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) and or Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP).

 

Our Moderator is Dr. Donte Flanagan, DNP, CRNA and our guest speaker will be Sheldon Fields, PhD, RN, FNP-C, AACRN, FAAN, FNAP (Board Member, National Black Nurses Association, Former Dean at the NYIT School of Nursing). In addition to his academic and research accomplishments, Dr. Fields was the first ever male registered nurse selected for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellowship Program. As a fellow, he worked in Washington, D.C. for United States Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) on the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions—Subcommittee on Aging during the historic healthcare reform debates and 2009-2010 passage of the Affordable Care Act.
